Friday 16^th January 2009 - There has been a long running opposition to the installation of new roller coasters at Alton Towers for many years, and the 2010 coaster is no different. Alton Parish Council have now opposed the new plans stating that the coaster is encroaching into woodland nearer the village.

A site visit for the new coaster was held with four of the nine parish councillors attending to see what was in store, three were in favour of the coasters development. A further invitation has been made by head of development at Alton Towers Mark Kerrigan, giving all the councillors opposed another opportunity to walk the site of the coaster and to see for themselves how the coaster will turn out.

A final decision on the planning application is expected to be made sometime next month.
